The Montana Library Association Board, Divisions, Committees and Interest Groups along with the on-site Conference Planning Co-Chairs and Committee welcome you to beautiful Bozeman, Montana, April 7 - 10, 2010 for ""Opening Minds, Expanding Horizons.""

Our host city has much to offer including a wide variety of shopping, historic walking tours, hiking trails including "Main Street to the Mountains," the Museum of the Rockies and many other attractions for the young and the young at heart.

 

Hopefully, you have already registered for the conference and made reservations at one of our conference hotels, the Bozeman Holiday Inn or Best Western Grantree. The hotels are within walking distance of one another so either will be a wonderful choice.

 

The 2010 conference is going to be a fun-filled, informative, energetic and motivating gathering. We have lined up some exciting speakers, presenters and events, which you will see mentioned within these pages.

 

Various pre-conference workshops ranging from cataloging to rocketry and beyond, will be held on Wednesday, April 7. The evening brings a welcome reception sponsored by Montana State University Library in the beautifully restored ballroom of The Baxter Hotel. A fundraiser featuring Matthew and Gunnar Nelson performing "Ricky Nelson Remembered." will conclude the evening. The fundraiser benefits the Montana Library Association and continued restoration of The Ellen Theatre.

 

The remainder of the week delivers nationally known speakers and authors including Lorienne Roy, Past President of the American Library Association, who will be our keynote speaker and Jack Horner, Ameya Preserve Curator of Paleontology at the Museum of the Rockies, who will be a featured speaker and Christopher Paolini, best selling author of the Inheritance cycle, will be the featured speaker for Saturday’s Author Luncheon.

 

The programs chosen cover a wide variety of topics, sure to be of interest to librarians serving any type of library! The committee took great care to chose programs they felt would make this conference worthwhile to everyone.
